Example of Procedure Text: How to Make Asparagus and Ricotta Baked Frittata Tart

One of the popular text type or genre is procedure text. Almost the students in high school know what procedure text is. Procedure text can be defined as texts that describe how something is accomplished through sequence of actions or steps. Some people say that procedure text is texts that show us about sequence of steps to finish something or to use something. Procedure texts consist of series of actions to be accomplished in order to obtain the same result under the same circumstances. 

Procedure text has specific generic structure. It consist of goal or aim (usually is a title of the text), material (optional, not all procedure text use material in it) and steps (action must be taken). 

Most procedure texts give information about how to do something or how something is accomplished through sequence of actions or steps. Procedure Text tells us about food recipes, manual book of electronic appliances or how to make something.

Here is one of the examples of procedure text about food recipe. This procedure text gives information how to make asparagus and ricotta baked frittata tart.

How to Make Asparagus and Ricotta Baked Frittata Tart

Ingredients

  • 2 bunches baby asparagus, trimmed
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) milk
  • 75g grated parmesan
  • 400g ricotta
  • 1 tbs thyme leaves, chopped
  • 250g baby truss tomatoes or cherry tomatoes
  • 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
  • Micro rocket to serve (optional)

Steps

  • First of all, preheat oven to 200°C. Grease and line a 20x30cm lamington pan with baking paper.
  • Secondly, bring a saucepan of water to the boil. Add the asparagus and cook for 1 minute then drain and rinse under cold water.
  • After that, combine eggs, milk, parmesan, ricotta, half the thyme and season. Pour into tin and top with asparagus. Bake 25 minutes or until risen and cooked through.
  • Next, place the tomatoes on a tray lined with baking paper, drizzle with oil then scatter with remaining thyme. Season and roast on the shelf under the frittata.
  • Finally, serve frittata with tomatoes and micro rocket.

How to Make Delicious Green Frittata

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basil leaves
  • 1 cup flat-leaf parsley leaves
  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 6 eggs
  • 500g ricotta
  • ¼ cup (20g) parmesan
  • 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil, plus extra to serve
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1½ cups baby kale, plus extra leaves to serve
  • 1 zucchini, shaved in strips using a vegetable peeler
  • 4 stalks asparagus, shaved into strips with a vegetable peeler
  • Lemon juice, to serve

Method

  • Firstly, preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Secondly, place the herbs and spinach in a food processor and whiz until finely chopped. Add the eggs, ricotta, parmesan and season, then whiz until smooth.
  • After that, heat oil in a fry pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened. 
  • Then, add the garlic and cook for a further 1 minute until fragrant. Add the baby kale and zucchini strips. Remove from the heat.
  • Next, add the egg mixture and stir to combine and distribute the ingredients in the pan.
  • After that, place in the oven and cook 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden on top. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool for 5 minutes, and then slide out of the pan.
  • Finally, serve topped with asparagus, extra kale leaves and drizzle with lemon juice and olive oil.
